MAULANA ABUL KALAM AZAD
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was an Indian scholar, as well as a political leader of the Indian
independence movement. He was born on 11 November in the year 1888. As a young ma
Azad composed poetry in Urdu. He rose to prominence through his work as a journalist, and
published articles criticising the British. He eventually became the leader of the Khalifat movement
during which he came into close contact with Mahatma Gandhi. He became an enthusiast
supporter of Gandhiji's ideas. Azad wrote many books among which India wins Freedom and asleep.
Ghubar e Khatir deserve special mention. He became the first Education Minister of independent
India and established free primary education. His birthday is celebrated as National Education
Day. This great man breathed his last on 22 February, 1958.

16.Use the following flow-chart to write a paragraph (within 100 words) on how a building is constructed:
HOW A BUILDING IS CONSTRUCTED
It takes a lot of time and hundreds of men to construct a building. At first an architect checks
the land where the building is to be constructed and draws a plan accordingly. Next the plan is
sent to the corporation or municipal authorities for sanction. Then masons and labourers are
explained of their duties. They get engaged in work. They start constructing the building with
bricks, cement and sand. Once the primary work is done, doors and windows are fitted in all the
rooms. Next the walls are plastered and wiring is done properly in the whole house. After that
electric and water connections are made. At last the entire building is painted with suitable colours.
The colours take a few days to dry. Finally the building is completed. Now it is fit for living.
